WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO

Friendly Visitors & Garden Angels, sponsored by The Chore Service, offers two programs to help older or disabled persons.

Our services are available in Canaan, Cornwall, Falls Village, Kent, Lakeville, Norfolk, Salisbury and Sharon. All services are free. Friendly Visitors and Garden Angels are supported by The Chore Service, a grant from the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging, participating communities and private donations.

Friendly Visitors match seniors or disabled persons, who would like a bit of companionship, with volunteers who make regular visits and occasional ‘phone calls. Clients and volunteers visit to share interests and hobbies, attend a local event, play a game of chess or just have a cup of tea and chat (and listen).

Garden Angels help clients with small gardening projects. This might include planning a garden, planting and weeding, putting a garden “to bed” in the fall or leafing through catalogs during the winter months.

RECEIVE VISITS FROM A FRIENDLY VISITOR OR GARDEN ANGEL

Would you or someone you know like to have a Friendly Visitor? Call us at 860-364-0171. We will meet with you to explain the program and how it works. When a suitable volunteer match is found, we will introduce the volunteer and the client. And, we will continue to be available for any questions or concerns.

BECOME A FRIENDLY VISITOR OR GARDEN ANGEL

If you want to make a difference in someone’s life, please join us as a Friendly Visitor or Garden Angel. Volunteers are interviewed by the program coordinator, are screened with a routine background check and attend a brief training session. The commitment can be as little as one hour a week. You can make a difference. Call us today at 860-364-0171.
