This year’s event will take place at a stunning venue on land initially owned by a Russian Count who escaped from Czarist Russia in the mid-20th century.
A two-room cinder block home was originally built with a fireplace, an outhouse, and a well. Two previous owners subsequently expanded the dwelling. In 1997, Mort and his wife, Barbara, purchased the property, continued the expansion, and cleared much of the land. Existing stone walls were rebuilt, and new ones were constructed. Under the guidance of Dirk Saban, a talented landscape architect, boxwoods and perennials were planted, the entrance way expanded, and magnificent view sheds were built. Today, this spectacular property includes over 25 acres of lawn, two car barns, and a horse and equipment barn. This sprawling property would not be complete without a shimmering swimming pool and a nearby tennis court. Today, the entire property includes 175 acres that border state forest land.
